ALLEN PARK – Seven Detroit Lions players, including four starters, were sidelined for practice on Wednesday.

Defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch (neck) typically gets Wednesdays off as a scheduled day of rest, but this was his second consecutive missed practice. Vanden Bosch had neck surgery after last season. It was the second straight day of for Corey Williams (hip), as well. The veteran defensive tackle said he got nicked up last Sunday against Oakland, but was confident he’d be on the field for Saturday’s game against San Diego.

Right tackle Gosder Cherilus was out with a hamstring injury, while safety Louis Delmas remains sidelined after having arthroscopic surgery on the knee he injured against Green Bay on Thanksgiving Day.

Others who didn’t practice for the Lions were: defensive tackle Nick Fairley (foot), safety Chris Harris (concussion) and cornerback Don Carey (concussion). Fairley practiced on Tuesday, unlike Harris and Carey, both of whom were injured against the Raiders.

Cornerback Aaron Berry (shoulder), cornerback Chris Houston (kne) and defensive end Wilie Young (ankle) were all listed as limited participants

Long snapper Don Muhlbach did not appear on Detroit’s injury report a day after missing the portion of practice open to media, while defensive end Lawrence Jackson (thigh), linebacker Justin Durant (hamstring), guard Rob Sims (shoulder), running back Kevin Smith (ankle) and safety Amari Spievey (knee) were all listed as full practice participants, as well.
