“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”

— Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Welcome!

TheSportingSnarf  is a website dedicated to the enjoyable, humorous, and nuanced aspects of the sporting and (to a lesser extent) pop-culture world.  We attempt to touch upon (in varying degrees of print/video length) engaging topics which are not discussed nearly enough. We’d love for you to give us your perspective, network, and participate regularly. But if you’d just like to join in on the mob-mentality and get all sanctimonious on a particular sports figure — head on over to ESPN.com. (Mickey Mouse welcomes you.) Or you can keep it real with us.

13 Years

I don’t really write anymore, and it’s too bad. I honestly have more to say than ever. Sometimes I feel like our Lions’ coach: people mistake the passion for just being some loud douche bag, and so, unlike huge balls Dan Campbell, I often get silent because I’m sick of offending people. Well, fuck that. […]

To Be a Detroit Lion ♥

To Be a Detroit Lion ♥

Pardon my excitement, but this was truly a one of a kind NFL season. Early on, there were all these awful injuries. I know it’s the game, but you at one point see the Lions game pause for a family member to come out of the stands, and it stops you in your tracks. They […]

Happy Birthday, Ethan!

Happy Birthday, Ethan!

Today is my brother’s birthday I wanted to recap all the incredible events that have transpired since he joined the angels in the outfield on September 24th: September 25: Ethan’s all-time favorite college, Michigan State, beats Nebraska 23-20 in overtime to stay undefeated. MSU trailed 20-13 when I turned on the TV, knowing the magic […]

What a Clipper Way to Win It

WE FUCKING DID IT!! WELCOME TO THE 2021 CONFERENCE FINALS, LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS – FOR THE FIRST FUCKING TIME EVER!!! Without all-star Kawhi Leonard, the Clippers banded together to take game five in Utah vs. the top seeded Jazz and go back to LA with a 3-2 series lead. Where they promptly trailed 75-50 at […]

On My Last Nerves

It seems like, the more technology makes sports available to everyone, we are going to keep having a descending level of quality opinions. You just don’t see people give their take on something until it is on some kind of national stage. It’s why most people, when they try and talk politics, sound so uninformed. […]

♥ Goodnight, Grandpa ♥

♥ Goodnight, Grandpa ♥

My grandpa was like a wild western character to me, when I was a kid the first time we visited his house in the actual Everglades, he had a sign up that said “home of the onion pancakes,” an ode to the breakfast he cooked us as children at my grandma’s cottage that made us […]

One More Shot

Can’t really believe I’m writing this. Not because we massively choked and lost the last two games with a chance to close out the Semis, but because WE ARE HERE. It took one season with Kawhi to make us a contender, and now, it’s time to beat the Nuggets one more time. Look, we might […]

Dear Asher,

It is your first birthday! Sounds like you and your mom had a fun day. I really, really miss you buddy. We still haven’t met in person, but I dream about you all the time. I just want you to know, whenever you are old enough to read this, that I love you. I love […]

Stuck Inside

At first it didn’t seem so bad – everything slowed down, there was almost a nice stillness to it all. But then the reports in Europe and other countries kept getting worse. And now, it’s in Detroit. In New York. All over our fucking country, scaring the living shit out of all of us whether […]

Mourning the Loss of a Legend

Mourning the Loss of a Legend

When we all found out that Kobe Bryant had passed, for kids my age in the late 90’s, for sports fans all over the world, and even for people who didn’t necessarily like Kobe, the news was extremely shocking and saddening. The man was young, but his daughter, who played the game eerily similar to […]

DONALD: YOU’RE FIRED

This is about as blatant as it gets. After four years of waiting for this corruption in a suit to get held accountable for his treason, Donald Drumpf was dumb enough to double down on his 2016 election hack of Hillary Clinton, calling Ukraine and withholding $400 Million Dollars in defense funds unless they helped […]
